Yes, losing weight will help you as it will decrease the amount of pressure placed on the disc. however, it will not correct the problem....To lose enough weight, you need to get your exercise to the point where you can hold a conversation with someone but it is a bit difficult....do that for 45 minutes a day, eat 5-7 small meals per day, with your largest meal being breakfast....carbs in the morning and protein at night, and you will get much healthier. Also go see a principled family chiropractor. they may also recommend a spinal decompression treatment plan....talk to your chiropractor about that and regular specific chiropractic adjustments. Good luck and God Bless.

It won't shrink the bulge...it's already there so it's not going anywhere. Losing weight may alleviate some of the pain. Your doctor will likely suggest conservative treatment before moving to surgery. You may want to try a series of Epidural Steroid Injections...I've seen a lot of people get relief with these and avoid or, if nothing else, put off surgery for awhile.
Good luck!
